We were reading on a blog recently, comments regarding the John Mac Arthur expose. And we thought that something should be said on the issue of idolatry. My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? (Jas 2:1-7 av) I have always wondered why, when it comes to big shot rich preachers like Mc Arthur, when they are finally caught so blatantly in error and sin, why is it that the people who idolize them immediately call for caution? Yet these same people will condemn the poor man, like myself, with no caution at all! Why is that? We heard one man claim “before we can accept these accusations against Mc Arthur, we must have three witnesses” and by the way “those people who are accusing Mc Arthur are suspicious themselves!” So let me get this straight, if a popular minister is unfaithful to his wife once, we cannot accuse him until he is unfaithful with at least three women who will all testify first hand to the account? My my, why is Mc Arthur on such a pedestal in your heart? Why wouldn’t you treat us with the same care as you desire for Mc Arthur? What if you find out on the day of judgment that many people are in hell because of John Mac Arthur’s ministry? What if you find out that the greatest obstacle of salvation to the common man is learning 90 percent truth? Why are you so surprised that Mc Arthur is turning out to be just another wicked man? Don’t you understand, that which is approved of men is an abomination to God? Don’t you understand that God has not chosen that which is wise in this world, but that which is foolishness in this world? Woe is us! For we have chosen that which is foolishness to men, we have chosen that which is an abomination to men, we have chosen to remain as fools, speaking those things we know to be true, against the tide of men who worship men rather than the Lord Jesus! Why does it take such an extensive expose of Mc Arthur, showing him as a dangerous - purpose driven - apostate; why is all of this necessary? Kind of reminds me of a criminal who doesn’t carry out his deeds in public for years, all kinds of dead bodies in the basement that no one ever knows about, other than one lone voice that everyone has been mocking for years, until the dead bodies finally become public knowledge! As for us, our expose of Mac Arthur would be real simple and would kind of go like this: John MacArthur is in violation of scripture by allowing himself to be lifted up rather than Christ, calling himself “Doctor”, in violation of scriptures. John MacArthur teaches that one can understand living truth by their own prudence, which he calls “exegesis”, rather than leading people to Christ as the only source of living truth. We believe that the scriptures affirm the receiving of living truth to be the ministration of the Holy Spirit alone. While prudent study of scripture can be considered noble, Berean like, yet living truth is found written in the hearts of those who have received it freely by faith - by the administration of the Holy Spirit - by the foolishness of preaching - not having confidence in the wisdom of men’s fair speech, but confidence in the power of God who saves whom he will to the uttermost! Because of this error in John MacArthur, who presents himself, who’s very methods of teaching, preaching and association, brings glory to himself rather than Jesus Christ, we detect and see clearly the spirit of Anti-Christ at work in this man’s actions! Truth comes by going through the door of Jesus Christ, our true master, not by going through the door of Masters Theological Seminary, headed by MacArthur. This is idolatry in God’s people and it must be repented of! How is that for a simple honest expose? Not good enough for you? How many dead bodies have to show up before the damage is enough to put a stop to these criminals? You really want Jesus to have preeminence, then take MacArthur off the throne!
